Wednesday, May 15, 1918. The U.S. war department reports today that Lt. Clarence M. Archer is the latest Saratoga County man to be wounded in Europe.

Archer, whose family lives in North Milton, is a veteran soldier who served as personal stenographer to General John J. Pershing, now commander of the American Expeditionary Force in France, during the 1916 punitive expedition against Mexican warlord Pancho Villa.
