A portion of Highway 1 that was closed due to a storm-related landslide will reopen Friday, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced yesterday in a news release. The reopening is eight days ahead of schedule and ahead of Caltrans’ original Memorial Day weekend estimate. A temporary traffic signal is being installed to guide vehicles through the road, allowing northbound and southbound traffic to alternate.
