Lufthansa is tapping kegs of beer on select flights — so you can get a head start on your Oktoberfest celebrations

Select Lufthansa flights going to and from Munich, Germany will be served beer from a keg in honor of Oktoberfest.

It's the first time that beer kegs are served on Lufthansa flights in more than 50 years.

The customized keg was designed with a special valve that prevents carbon dioxide from exploding during the flight's high altitudes.

Passengers arriving in Munich on September 22 or 23 will also get a complimentary box of Oktoberfest-themed goodies.
