Suspect shot by Fort Lauderdale police officer, interim police chief says

A Fort Lauderdale police officer shot a suspect Friday morning while responding to a TD Bank branch on East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale Interim Police Chief Richard Maglione said.

Maglione said employees at the bank contacted authorities shortly before 10 a.m. about a suspect who was armed with a firearm and other weapons.

Maglione said the responding officer spotted the man in the parking lot of the bank, but he refused orders to surrender.
