Discovery is making a Netflix-style streaming service for sports, and it's paying $2 billion for streaming rights to the PGA Tour

Discovery Inc., the owner of channels including Food Network and HGTV, has acquired international TV and streaming rights to more than 140 golf tournaments, including PGA Tour events.

The 12-year deal, which will cost Discovery $2 billion, reportedly takes effect in 2019.

It's part of Discovery's effort to get into sports broadcasting with a new Netflix-style streaming service.
