You can file for a tax extension that pushes your deadline to October, but tax payments are due on July 15

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the IRS is extending the deadline for tax payments to July 15, but tax returns are still due on April 15. 

If you don't think you can get everything together to file your tax return in the next few weeks, don't wait: File for a tax extension now.

A tax extension pushes your filing deadline to file to October 15, but you still need to pay what you owe by July 15 or accrue interest and/or a penalty, barring any further IRS relief.
