A magnitude 7.5 earthquake was reported Tuesday afternoon at 4:58 p.m. Pacific time 13 miles from Hualien City, Taiwan, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Tsunami Warning System. According to the USGS, the epicenter was farther than 100 miles from a city. In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
