A federal judge ordered children held with their parents in US immigration jails be released, the Associated Press reported. 

The order applies to children held for more than 20 days at three family detention centers run by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. 

US District Judge Dolly Gee set a July 17 deadline for children to be released with their parents or sent to family sponsors.
