Sean Manaea’s surgery “best-case scenario;” he might return to A’s next year

Sean Manaea's shoulder surgery Tuesday was "best-case scenario," renowned orthopedist Dr. Neal ElAttrache told the A's, and manager Bob Melvin said the left-hander might be able to pitch again sometime next year.

The A's feared that Manaea, who threw a no-hitter against Boston on April 21, would be lost for all of next year, but the repairs needed were less extensive than often is the case with shoulder surgeries.
