Tied up in trunk by robbers, husband’s actions ‘likely saved’ wife’s life in deadly home invasion: sheriff

The wife told officers that two masked males had entered the home the night before to rob her and her husband. A man is credited with saving his wife’s life after the couple were tied up by home invaders and stuffed into the trunk of a vehicle in south suburban Crete Township.

Francisco Aranda, 63, was found dead Monday in the trunk of his Impala by deputies, the Will County sheriff’s office said. His 59-year-old wife had escaped to the front compartment after Aranda kicked down a folding seat....
