Evolv Technology is a startup whose metal detectors are engineered to locate guns and other weapons in a crowd.

The Boston company has raised $30 million in new funding from investors including Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's firm, as well as Bill Gates, General Catalyst, and Lux Capital.

Evolv's security system uses a mix of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and sensors to screen for the presence of weapons like guns, knives, and homemade explosives.
