Stocks slump at the open as contagion fears follow 'Tiger Cub' meltdown

U.S. stocks opened lower Monday, dogged by concerns about the ripple effects from forced selling Friday by a large investment firm. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 139 points, 0.4%, to open near 32,934, while the S&P 500 opened 16 points, 0.4%, lower, near 3,958.
