A medically vulnerable immigrant who was being held at a California detention facility died by suicide on Sunday, advocates said in a release received by Daily Kos. The 74-year-old had been jailed at a facility that has been the site of both litigation and protests over federal immigration officials’ refusal to release greater numbers of detained people amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
