Bay Area now too expensive for annual dog surfing competition

The annual dog surfing championship in Pacifica is in danger of being euthanized. Every year, people flock to the beaches of the San Mateo County city to watch canines catch waves for charity. But eight years after founding the event, its organizers worry that the competition might not happen, as costs for permits, fees and other requirements have increased more than 100% in the last three years.
