There are 148 stocks in the S&P 500 that have hit fresh 52-week lows as of midday trading Monday, or 29.4% of the benchmark large-capitalization company tracker's components. That percentage is higher than for the S&P Mid Cap 400, of which 96 stocks, or 24.0% of its components hit 52-week lows; and for the S&P Small Cap 600 , in which 135 stocks, or 22.5%, of its components hit 52-week lows.
